Camera angle #1 by Craig Haverstick: Camera angle #2 by Dale Porter: Camera angle #3 by 'Nanicam': Did you know that SoCal Surf Dog Ricochet has been surfing with, and supporting wounded warriors for the last 2 years?
She works as an assistive aid to surfers with disabilities through Puppy Prodigies as a SURFice dog (tm). Among them have been wounded warriors, active duty military, and veterans. Ricochet uses her surfing skills to counter-balance the board, and adjusts her surfing style to each disability. In addition, her soft hearted nature coupled with her intuitiveness fosters trust through an instant, far reaching bond helping the warriors heal. She's been involved with a number of military based organizations, including the Balboa Naval Medical Center. When not in the water, she does goal directed therapy with the Balboa Rehab Program through Pawsitive Teams, working with active duty wounded warriors affected by PTSD, combat stress, traumatic brain injuries, amputations and other forms of medical trauma. Ricochet has extensive training and experience since she was trained as a service dog. She's also a certified goal directed therapy dog, and a registered therapy dog. In addition to working with wounded warriors, Ricochet helps special needs children, and people with disabilities both in, and out of the water. This is yet another example of what the SoCal Surf Dogs do when they are not surfing to raise monies and awareness for various causes. Ricochet sets the bar high for all of us to give back in our individual ways, as well as a group! SoCal Surf Dog member Larry Brambles is helping to rehabilitate Onyx
after he was found in September, tied to a wooden post with a bloody severed leg. Could Onyx be the first 3 legged surf dog? Click on the photo to hear all about his incredible heart warming story! |
